Our team arrived in Beijing on the night of June 13th and started 4-day preparations and events.
Through connections with Grant, leader of Fallen Star volunteers for Beijing 101 Middle School, seven Autistic children had been gathered together. We set events place on campus of Beijing Normal University.
We were lucky to get support from Fallen Star volunteers in Beijing. In indoor events, a volunteer and a kid made a team, and the kid completed artworks with the help of volunteers. First, we introduced how to make clay dinnerware: use clay sculptures to make dinnerware and print on them with fresh flowers.
(necessary materials: clay and fresh flowers)

We divided two bundles of fresh flowers into seven to children, and gave each of them a bag of clay. Firstly, children kneaded the shape of dinnerware, then put flowers on the clay sculptures and got the beautiful print. Children exerted their imagination and made cute clay sculptures. Even some of them were creative to arrange flowers in clay sculptures and got beautiful artworks.

Secondly, we drew on foam board. It is a fascinating art form, and children should finish it with numerous art forms.
(necessary materials: foam board, pencils, watercolor paper and acrylic paint)
Children used pencil to draft things on foam board, then painted with acrylic paint, and printed the side of acrylic paint on watercolor paper, and we can see their print. Through this art form, many children displayed their artistic talents in unique sketch and color matching.
One of them is a boy called Kang Rui, who made us impressive. Others had already print their drawing on watercolor paper, while he was deeply immersed in sketch drawing. When we came closer, we surprisingly found that he drew an idyllic pavilion. He drew scenery as background and lounge bridge of pavilion, all these details came alive on the foam board. Kang Rui made the background color green with combination of yellow and blue, painted large area on it. When he was poised to complete the drawing, he took a rest and then came back to continue because he was so tired to concentrate on it for long time. He daubed all over the foam board, then threw away paintbrush and ran out. We printed his work on watercolor paper in case acrylic paint became dry on the foam board.

The last event was blowing bubbles. We mixed colorful ink in bubble water. Two or three children made a team, a child blew bubbles, the rest of them caught fallen bubbles. The beautiful print would be produced when bubble and watercolor paper met.

Children mixed different colors to get bubble water, blew gently and softly from their lips with shiny bubbles, others stretched watercolor paper to catch fallen bubbles while running. When watercolor paper was covered all burst bubbles, paper can be considered as a finished painting.

For ordinary children, the world is pure, sunny and wonderful with light breeze accompanied by children’s growth.
For ordinary children, the world is so kind that they can fit in society. However, children we met today grew up harder than most of ordinary children. They were confronted with shameful gossips and strange eyes of society all the time. Guessing eyes on bus and unintended words in canteens can be scars in their hearts. They were like floating bubbles that tainted clothes when touching inadvertently. Through these events, we hope to provide them with courage to face on and break these colorful bubbles and made beautiful works by printing bubbles on paper. The message is shown to them: if well used, rumors and gossips can become part of you that make you stronger!Good wishes to these lovely children and may society give them more good will and they walk smoothly on life’s roads.
